Mary Warrington, 99, of Cumming, died March 23, 2012.

She was born in Cumming, the daughter of George L. and Polly Calloway, on April 25, 1912.

She taught school at Cumming High School for several years and after that she taught in the Miami, Fla. public school department.

Later, she and her husband owned and operated a motel in Valley Forge, Pa.

Her husband, Harold Warrington; parents, George L. and Polly Merritt; brothers, James F. Merritt Sr. and the Col. George L. Merritt Jr. of the U.S. Army Air Corps who was killed in action in World War II; sisters, Kathryn Boyd and Antoinette Ramsey, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her nephew, James F. Merritt Jr. and his wife, Lou, of Cleveland; their son, James F. Merritt III and his wife, Darlene, and their son James F. Merritt, IV (Jamie) of Dawsonville; three nephews, David, Tony and Lewis Ploudre; niece, Maria Monier, all of Missouri; various other relatives also survive.

Her body was donated to Emory University Hospital for research.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. April 14 at Cumming First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Stasco and Cromartie officiating.

Donations may be made to Cumming First United Methodist Church Music Department in honor of the George L. Merritt family.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming is in charge of the arrangements.
