Mary Helen Luke, 90, of Dawsonville, died Oct. 17, 2011.

Born Aug. 29, 1921 in Orlando, Fla. to the late Charles and Flora Woods, she lived 47 years in Atlanta before moving to Dawson County in 2007. A homemaker at her death, Mrs. Luke worked as a receptionist for 12 years at the Palisades Medical Building in Atlanta.

She was a member of Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church where she was a member of the Pioneer Sunday School Class, was a member of the Garden Hills Garden Club and others in the Atlanta area.

Her husband, Charles H. "Charlie" Luke Jr.; grandson, Earl Carter Clemons Jr.; and brother, C.G. Woods, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Nancy Luke Quinn of Dawsonville, Patricia and Carter Clemons of Pawleys Island, SC, Charles H. III and Linda Luke of Lawrenceville; sisters, Betty Jane Buffington of Lakeland, Fla., Ginger O'Shea of Clayton; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Oct. 21 at Arlington Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to the Dawson County Senior Center Elevator Fund, P.O. Box 598, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
