Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Martin, 76, of Douglasville, died April 15, 2018.
Born Oct. 17, 1941 in Dawson County to the late Frank and Mary Bruce, she had lived in Douglas County since 1971. A homemaker at her death, she was formerly employed at Fulton Supply Company. Liz enjoyed gardening, bird watching and was an extremely devoted “Nana” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her sisters, Maggie Thomas, Sarah Dobbs; and brothers, Hugh Bruce, Mark Bruce and Charles Cicero Bruce, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Rodger Martin of Douglasville; sons and daughter-in-law, John Everett Goins, III of Hiram, Jeffrey Eric and Deborah Goins of Winston; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Holli and Tracey Phillips of St. Augustine, Fla.; grandchildren, Krysta Fry, Amylia Goins, Brooke Goins, Dalton Phillips, Avery Phillips; great-grandchildren, Trenton and Sophia; sister, Lavada Parker of Apopka, Fla.; brothers, Frank Lewis Bruce of Decatur, Roy Bruce of Douglasville; her beloved poodle, Lily; various other relatives also survive.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. April 18 at the Dawsonville City Cemetery with Pastor Mike Owens officiating.
The family received friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 17 at the funeral home.
Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
