Marvin Luke "Lucas" Bruce, 59, of Gainesville, Forsyth County, died Feb. 16, 2014.

He was the eldest son of Elsie Vivian Bruce and the late Marvin Lee Bruce of Dawsonville.

Born August 15, 1954 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, he was a premature baby born at 7 months. He weighed 3 pounds 2 ounces and was 12 inches long.

Luke was an avid hunter, expert marksman with gun and bow and was the State Champion Archer for Georgia for two years running.

He was the founder of Lucas Knife Shope and a dedicated member of LeCaBru Ministries.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Bruce; mother, Elsie Vivian Bruce; brothers and sisters in law, Lester and Carolyn Bruce, Lesley and Daphne Bruce; nephews and nieces, Levi Bruce, Lee Bruce, Lucas Bruce, Lesley Bruce, Josh and Crystal Bruce Wofford, Matt Wehunt; mother in law, Doris Wehunt; brothers in law, Donald Wehunt and Lester Bruce.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Feb. 20. At 2 p.m., there will be a music tribute and the artists will include Lester and Carolyn Bruce, Don Sepulveda and Dell Conner, followed by a funeral service at 2:30 p.m. in Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.

Revs. Lester and Carolyn Bruce and Rev. Lesley Bruce will officiate. Interment services will follow in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist with final expenses.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville is in charge of the arrangements.
