Marvin C. Owen, 84, of Dawsonville, died Nov. 24, 2016.

Born Feb. 4, 1932 to the late Mack and Alma Owen, he was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.

Mr. Owen was formerly employed in the textile industry, after which he worked for Universal Rubber Company until his retirement.

Marvin was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

A son, Charles E. Owen; sisters, Nellie Kate Stowers, Sybil Suggs, Elizabeth Duncan, Hazel Arnold; and brothers, Merritt Owen, J.C. Owen, Larry Owen, Lamar Owen and Mack Owen, Jr., also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his son, Randall Owen of Dawsonville; brother, Thomas Owen of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Angela Dawn Gilbert , Randall Scott Owen; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Nov. 27 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Chris Segars and Dennis Bottoms officiating. Interment followed in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
