Maria Martins, 84, of Cumming, died Sept. 22, 2017.
Born January 18, 1933, Maria had been a resident of Cumming for the past five years coming from Brazil. For over 30 years she worked as a nurse, 10 of which were at Hospital Emilio Ribas where she treated children and adults with infectious disease and she also worked for the Health Department in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Maria attended Good Shepherd Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time at the YMCA in Cumming where she leaves behind many friends.
Her husband, Clovis H. Martins, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in -aw, Dr. Katia M. Adams and Mauro Pires of Cumming; a number of sisters, brothers and other relatives in Brazil; various other relatives also survive.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 23.
A memorial Mass will be held at 5 p.m. Sept. 28 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Cumming.
