Margaret Josephine Franklin Craft, 88, died Dec. 4, 2013.

Margaret was born April 6, 1925 in Lincoln, Ala., where she was raised. She married in 1943 and lived in Anniston, Ala. In 1957 her family moved to Chamblee and then later to Cumming.

Margaret began her career with the government in the early 1940s at the Old Army Depot in Anniston. She was sent to Washington, D.C. on several occasions for extensive training. Margaret went to work with the Internal Revenue Service Center in 1961. She was a computer programmer/analyst and worked there until her retirement.

After retirement, Margaret and her husband, Horace, moved permanently to Lake Lanier. She then began volunteering at then called, Baptist North, now known as Northside Forsyth, and spent 27 years there.

Margaret was also very involved in several bridge clubs over the years and just within the last couple of months had to give those up.

Her husband of 60 years, Horace D. Craft; siblings, Pete Franklin, Bertalee Willingham, Sue Townsend and Mary Ruth Haynes, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her three children, Charles "Chuck" Craft, Susan M. Craft and Sherry C. Childers; grandchildren, Heather M. Herrington, Lindsay M. Childers and Robert "Taylor" Childers; great-grandchild, Vadil A. Scarborough; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Dec. 7 at Ingram's Funeral Home in Cumming. Burial services followed at Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Anniston, Ala.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
