Mabel Pettyjohn, 92, of Big Canoe, died Aug. 2, 2015.

Born Nov. 9, 1922 in Warren County, to the late Roy V. and Eva Farr, she lived most of her life in Athens before moving to Big Canoe more than 20 years ago.

Her husband, Thomas L. "Luke" Pettyjohn, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Hitt of Ellijay; various other relatives also survive.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 5 in the Big Canoe Cemetery with the Rev. Roland Nelson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pickens Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 45, Jasper, GA 30143.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville is in charge of the arrangements.
