Authorities say that an inmate in custody at the Dawson County Detention Center has died and state officials have been called in to investigate the death.

Lynn Burks Cohran, 58, of Riverdale, died Oct. 21, 2013.

Born Feb. 6, 1955, she was a 1973 graduate of North Clayton High School and retired from Georgia Lighting after more than 20 years of service.

Lynn possessed a love for the outdoors, was an avid camper and enjoyed spending time at the beach.

Her father, William Thomas "Dub" Burks, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her mother, Barbara Burks of Dawsonville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Julia and Harry Martin of Rockledge, Fla., Brooks McCord of Cumming; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Gayle Burks of Whitesburg, Paul and Cindy Burks of Dawsonville, Walter and Melanie Burks of Douglasville; close nephew, Daniel Burks and his wife, Elisa; various other relatives also survive.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Oct. 28 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. William "Bill" Scarbrough officiating.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
