Lona Mae Chester

Lona Mae Chester, 86, of Dawsonville, died Oct. 10, 2012.

Born Jan. 16, 1926, in Lumpkin County to the late Oscar and Nellie Tow, she lived in Dawson County for more than 70 years.

A homemaker at her death, she retired from Sweet-Orr after 38 years of service.

She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Arnold "Chiz" Chester; daughter-in-law, Charldine Chester; sisters, Adele Tow, Bertha Lou Chester, Ethelene Timms; and brothers, Dillard Tow and Hillard Tow, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Clinton Chester, Clifton and Joyce Chester, all of Dawsonville; daughter and son-in-law, Geneva and Dale Hampton of Roswell; sister, Jean Mason of Dahlonega; brother, Delbert Tow of Dawsonville; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Oct. 12 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Mark Biddy and Glenn Byrd officiating. Interment followed in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
