Lois Swafford Chumley

Lois Swafford Chumley, 86, of Marble Hill, died Aug. 2, 2012.

Born Aug. 13, 1925, in Dawson County to the late Carl and Mae Swafford, she had lived in Pickens County for the past 65 years.

A homemaker at her death, Mrs. Chumley was a former nurse's aide at the Tate Clinic, after which she was Ward Clerk at Pickens General Hospital for 20 years.

She was a member of Juno Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her sister, Cleo Bruce.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Loy Chumley of Marble Hill; children, Glenda Black, Randy and Barbara Chumley, Greg Chumley, all of Marble Hill, Linda Bearden, Tracy and Rhonda Chumley, all of Dawsonville; sister, Eunice "Boody" Chumbley of Dawsonville; brothers and sister-in-law, Glenson and Arlene Swafford of Dawsonville, Max Swafford of Holly Springs; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 5 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Phillip Burt officiating. Interment followed in the Juno Baptist Church Cemetery.

Flowers were accepted or donations were requested made to the Juno Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
