Lewis C. Steward Jr., 90, of Dawsonville, died Feb. 6, 2015.

Mr. Steward was born Sept. 20, 1924 in Memphis, Tenn., son of the late Lewis Chandler Steward and Mary Reed Steward.

He was a longtime resident of Dawsonville and the North Atlanta area and was a retired building contractor, having owned Lewis Built Homes.

He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of Oakland City United Methodist Church.

His wife, Frances Reinshagen Steward, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughter, Donna Steward Arnold of Hogansville; son, Mark Chandler Steward and his wife, Deborah, of Stockbridge; grandchildren, Chris Shuford (who served as his primary caregiver), Allison Whitehead, Andrea Thigpen; five great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

The family will plan a graveside memorial service at a late time in Memphis Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis, Tenn.
