Lewis A. Davenport

Lewis A. Davenport, 84, of Dawsonville, died Oct. 26, 2012.

Born June 24, 1928, in Fannin County, to the late Tate and Essie Davenport, he lived most of his life in Dawson County. Mr. Davenport was a retired poultry farmer. After his retirement he enjoyed working at Burt's Pumpkin Farm and gardening.

An ordained Baptist minister, he pastored Full Fellowship Church in Marble Hill.

His wife, Adell Foster Davenport; son, Kenneth Davenport; and a brother, Herbert Davenport, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his children, Harold and Mary Lou Davenport, Hubert and Shirley Davenport, Cathy and Jerry McClure, Brenda and Phil Green, all of Dawsonville; sisters and brother-in-law, Evelyn Foster, Darlene and Ray Jones, all of Dahlonega; brothers and sister-in-law, Leamon Davenport of Dahlonega, Ernest and Margie Davenport of Union Point; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Oct. 29 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jimmy Chester, Phillip Burt and Bradley Cain officiating. Interment followed in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
