Lee Roy "Bop" Martin, 83, a native of Forsyth County, died March 1, 2011.

 

Lee Roy was a devoted husband, a loving and caring father and grandfather, who always put everyone's needs before his. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, especially his family with whom he instilled values of truth, kindness and most of all the love of God.

 

He was born Nov. 17, 1927 and graduated from Cumming High School. He was a member of Haw Creek Baptist Church.

 

Lee Roy enjoyed gardening, woodworking and spending time with his family.

 

His parents, Belve H. and Monna Corn Martin; brothers and sister-in-law, Edsel and Kathryn Martin, Grady Martin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gladys and Beeler Munda, Ellen and Wayne Mundy, Joffree (Bud) Martin and infant sister, Charlotte, preceded him in death.

 

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Lourene Gilbert Martin; daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Edward Haight; grandson, Jonathan Martin Haight, all of Cumming; sister, Louise Martin; sister-in-law, Ellen Martin; various other relatives also survive.

 

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. March 3 at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Danny Bennett, Ruel Martin, Jonathan Martin Haight and Larry Vaughan officiating. Interment followed at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

 

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
