Lawton Monroe Sosebee, 89, of Cumming, died Nov. 30, 2011.

Mr. Sosebee was a Cumming native. He attended North Georgia College.

He worked as a first class welder in Norfolk, Va. He served in the Air Force at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi.

Following in his father's footsteps, he was a rural mail carrier. He served Forsyth County with the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, Water and Sewer Authority and as a county commissioner.

He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and Ducktown Lodge No. 572 F&AM.

His wife, Miriam Wallace Sosebee, preceded him in death in 2006.

His daughter, Judy Sosebee Blackburn, preceded him in death in 2008.

Survivors include his granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Robin and Joe DiGiorgio of Tampa, Fla.; great-grandson, Ryan Ledbetter of Tampa, Fla.; sisters, Reatha McConnell, Bonnie Gramling; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ozell and Arter Watkins, Iola and Cecil Gramling; son-in-law, Bob Blackburn of Cumming; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Dec. 3 in the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. Services were conducted by the Revs. Ricky Byrd, John Lummus and Jackie Stewart.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
