Larry Robert Young, age 71, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital. He was born June 15, 1949 to Raliegh and Eula Young in Jasper.
Larry grew up in Dawsonville and graduated from Dawson County High School and then from Georgia Tech.
He was a member of Free Hope Baptist Church.
He loved Blue Grass Music and played several instruments but he most enjoyed spending time with family.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Joni Young of Canton; and their precious daughter, Elizabeth Anne Gurr of Dunwoody. Also surviving are his sister, Ruth Markham of Braselton; brother, Jerry Young of Georgia; sister-in-law, Mary Young of Dawsonville; niece, Becky Young of Dawsonville; nephew, Bobby Young of Donalsonville; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Roger and Faye Rich of Tate; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy and Tommy Greer of Courtland, Ala. Several friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Young; and son-in-law, Ryan Gurr.
A Graveside Service was held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020 at Free Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with the Revs. Grant Wade and Johnny McPherson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Free Hope Baptist Church in honor of Larry.
