Obituaries

Larry J. Lemley, 73, of Dawsonville, died Nov. 19, 2017.  

Mr. Lemley was born Aug. 8, 1944 in Birmingham, Ala. to the late Loran and Maxine Lemley.  He and his wife owned a home in Dawson County since 1980 and moved from Dunwoody to become full-time residents in 2002. Larry worked in the peanut industry and retired from the Golden Peanut Company after 20 years of service.  He enjoyed golf, boating, was an avid University of Alabama fan and was a member of First Redeemer Church in Cumming.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Diane Lemley of Dawsonville; sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Lori Lemley of Cumming, Greg and Ashley Lemley of Birmingham, Ala.; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Ronnie Acker of Bessemer, Ala.; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Nov. 22 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Jackson and Pastor Mike Schmid officiating.

Interment services were held at 1 p.m. Nov. 24 in the Highland Memorial Gardens in Bessemer, Ala.

The family received friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Nov. 22 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Redeemer Church Building Fund, 2100 Peachtree Parkway, Cumming, Ga. 30041.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
