Larry Harold Bennett, 75, of Cumming, died March 25, 2015.

He was born in Forsyth County, to the late Lither and Edith Bennett.

His brothers, Everett Bennett and Norris Bennett; and in-laws, Dallas and Alice Hall, preceded him in death.

Larry Served in the National Guard for six years and was with the Forsyth County Fire and Rescue Department for 25 years.

He served as a deacon of the Baptist faith for 39 years and was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Lavon Bennett of Cumming children, Serena Bennett of Jackson, Jonathan Bennett of Marietta, Alicia and Ray Covington of Blairsville; brother, Gene and Betty Bennett of Cumming; sister, Florence and Byron Kay of Norcross; sisters-in-law, Teresa Bennett of Suwanee and Deborah Bennett of Cumming; in-laws, Phyllis and Wayne McPherson of Dawson County, Van and Ginny Hall of Suwanee; grandchildren, Timothy Herron Nathan Bennett, Chris Herron, Josh Herron, Aliceyn and Reagan Covington; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. March 28 in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. Interment followed at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to a charity of your choice.

McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
