Kenneth "K.K." Turner, 85, of Dawsonville, died Dec. 4, 2016.
Born Nov. 27, 1931 in Salisbury, N.C., to the late Joseph and Myrtie Vera Turner, he lived most of his life in Dawson County.
K.K. was a graduate of Dawson County High School and worked as a real estate developer.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, was a member and past president of the Dawsonville Lions Club and also served as a Lions District Governor.
Kenneth was a past commander of the American Legion Post 247, was a 63 year member of Etowah Lodge No. 222 F&AM, was a member of Dawsonville United Methodist Church and attended Lumpkin Campground throughout his life.
He enjoyed NASCAR, playing checkers, dominos and cards with his family and friends, attending gospel singings and having breakfast with friends at the local restaurants.
His wife of 55 years, Betty Jo Turner; and brothers, Joseph M. Turner II, and Clinton W. Turner Sr., also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his children, Michael and Julie Turner of Roswell, Diane and Tony Phillips of Statesboro, David and Janice Turner, Grady and Vicki Turner, all of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Michell and Clint Smith, Matthew and Brandi Turner, Hannah and John Sewell, William and Stephanie Turner, Katie and Brady Mathis, Joseph Turner, Tatum Turner, Madison Phillips, Tucker Turner; five great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 7 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Sven Mossinger, Joel Embry, Stephen Davis and Clint Smith officiating. Interment followed in the Dawsonville City Cemetery.
