Kathleen “Mama Kat” Samples, 82, of Cumming, died Sept. 7, 2010.

  

Mama Kat was born in Forsyth County to the late George and Bella Higgins and was a lifelong member of Cross Roads Baptist Church.

  

Her infant son, Dennis Lee Samples; sisters, Grace Warren, Pauline Higgins and Sylvia Bennett, preceded her in death.

  

Mama Kat was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

  

Survivors include her husband of 61 1/2 years, Crant Samples; daughter and son-in-law, Marla and Bobby Gazaway; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Donna Samples; grandchildren, Shane and Renee Gazaway, Blake and Lauren Samples, Taylor Samples and Amanda Samples; brother, George Veston Higgins; brother and sister-in-law, Terrell and Ruby Dean Higgins; various other relatives also survive.

  

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sept. 10 at Cross Roads Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

  

The family accepted flowers, but donations were also accepted in Mama Kat’s honor to Cross Roads Baptist Church - Youth, 6105 Jett Road, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

  Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
