June Chamblee Zinskie, 78, of Dawsonville, died Jan. 17, 2016.
Born March 27, 1937 in Norcross to the late Paul and Winnie Robertson, she lived most of her life in Buford, before moving to Dawson County.
June graduated from Buford High School, where she played basketball and graduated nursing school in 1969. She dedicated her life to providing healthcare to others.
Throughout her career she worked at Button Gwinnett Hospital and Buford General Hospital, where she assisted with the births of the first babies ever born at both.
She also worked as a surgical scrub nurse, emergency room nurse and floor nurse.
She then worked for Buford Medical Clinic, Lakeshore Heights Nursing Center and was a charge nurse at The Oaks at Limestone until her retirement in 2005.
While in Buford she coached softball for many years to the Buford American Legion and for several years was extremely involved with the scouting program.
She was very devoted to her family and possessed an adventurous spirit, which led her to live life to the fullest.
June was a collector of everything and loved the snow, even allowing her family to watch her ride a snow sled down the hill at Buford Dam.
She was a member of Buford First United Methodist Church.
Her husbands, Clyne Chamblee and Paul Witham; son, David Chamblee; and her twin brother, Jack Robertson, also preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 20 at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 20 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Stephen Davis, Phillip Burt and Jason Hamby officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Activities Department at The Oaks at Limestone, 2560 Flintridge Rd., Gainesville, GA 30501.
