Joshua Andrew "Josh" Gilleland, 24, of Dawsonville, died June 18, 2017.

Born Sept. 18, 1992, he was a native of Forsyth County, but had lived in Dawson County for the past 20 years.

He was a 2011 graduate of Dawson County High School, where he was a member of the soccer team.

Josh attended Southern Polytechnic State University and was currently enrolled at Lanier Tech in Dawsonville.

An avid fisherman, he loved spending time with his friends and with his dog, Yeti. He enjoyed all outdoor activities.

A member of Hightower Baptist Church, his grandfather, Roger Ben Gilleland, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his parents, Roger "Tony" and Pam Gilleland of Dawsonville; brother and sister-in-law, Matt and Molly Gilleland of Atlanta; grandparents, J.R. and Ethelene Allen of Cumming, Barbara Jean "Bobby" Gilleland of Milton; various other relatives also survive.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. June 24 at Hightower Baptist Church with the Revs. Jerry Orr and Gerral Richards officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested made to Hightower Baptist Church, 3444 Hightower Rd., Ball Ground, GA 30107.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville is in charge of the arrangements.
