Joseph G. "Joe" Bearden, 79, of Dawsonville, died July 5, 2013.

Mr. Bearden was a longtime resident of Cobb County and lived the last four years in Dawsonville.

He graduated from West Fulton High in 1953 and retired from RR Donnelley with more than 30 years of service.

Mr. Bearden was a member of First Baptist Church of Dawsonville, a charter member and past president of the West Fulton Owl Club, member and past president of the Nickajack Football Association, and a member of the West Fulton Jaycees.

His parents, James and Gladys Bearden; and a brother, Wilbur Bearden, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Anne Bearden of Nashville; grandchildren, Chayse and Channing; longtime companion, Linda Freeman; various other relatives also survive.

A memorial services was held at 11 a.m. July 8 at First Baptist Church of Dawsonville with the Dr. Jim Gaines officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to WellStar Community Hospice, 475 Dickson Ave. NW, Marietta, GA 30064; First Baptist Church of Dawsonville, 900 Hwy. 9 North, Dawsonville, GA 30534; or West Fulton Owl Club, 1554 Cochran Ridge Rd., Hiram, GA 30141.

Carmichael Funeral Home of Smyrna was in charge of the arrangements.
