John Wayne Corcoran, 11, of Dawsonville, died Friday, Oct. 9, 2009.

  

A lifelong resident of Dawson County, he was a fifth grade student at Black's Mill Elementary School.

  

John Wayne was a member of the Dawson County U.S.A. Wrestling Team, a member of the Mets 9 &10 year-old baseball team, where he was chosen for the All Star Team, a member of the Ruffin Reading Club at Black's Mill, played football for the Dawson County Parks and Recreation for four years and loved hunting and fishing.

  

Survivors include his parents, Kevin and Bobbi Jo Corcoran of Dawsonville; brothers and sisters, Anthony, Victoria, Carrissa and all the many others; grandparents, Wayne and Vickie Smith of Duluth, Bernie Corcoran of Dahlonega, Judy Corcoran of Norcross; great-grandparents, Ruthie Mae Smith of Doraville, Harold and Jerry Davis of Gainesville; various other relatives also survive.

  

Memorial services were held at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Russell Burt officiating.

  

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to the John Wayne Corcoran Memorial Fund, c/o United Community Bank, P.O. Box 159, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

  

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
