John Thomas Bagwell Sr., 66, of Dahlonega, died Feb. 28, 2015.

Thomas was born May 17, 1948 in Gwinnett County.

He loved his family, the mountains and he loved Blue Grass music.

Thomas graduated from Duluth High School and was a veteran of The United States National Guard.

His parents, Clifford and Eleanor Bagwell and Virginia and Dallas Landress, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Bagwell; children, Glenda and Shawn Elko, Tom Bagwell, Samantha Polk Thomas; seven grandchildren, Molly, Ethan, Emily, Becca, Clay, Jack and Eliana; one great-grandchild, Ava; brothers and sisters, Debra and Ed Hamrick, Denise and Stevie Shoemake, Michael "Muncie" and Tonia Bagwell, Heidi and Jr. Pittman, Debbie Stanford, Gary and Patricia Stanford, Gaily and Tommy Davis, Margie and Michael Nix; aunt, Dot Hamrick; various other relatives also survive.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. March 3 at Roanoke Baptist Church with the Revs. Clark Watson, Ruel Martin and Ronnie Brown officiating.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
