John Martin Devenney, 66, of Dawsonville, died June 8, 2014.
Born in Marshall, Mich., he was the son of the late Martin and Dorothy Devenney.
John graduated from Marshall High School in 1966. John married Linda Peace on Feb. 8, 1969 in Albion, Mich.
John served in the United States Air Force for four years and worked for State Farm Insurance for the past 15 years.
He loved spending time with his entire family.
He was a life-long NASCAR fan. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping and trips to the ocean with his wife.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Devenney of Dawsonville; son, Shawn Devenney and his wife Stacy of Cumming; daughter, Heather Smith and her husband, Charles, of Lawrenceville; brothers, Dick Devenney of Florida and Randy Devenney of Texas; sisters, Sueanne Schrock of Texas, Marsha Everingham and Tina Devenney, both of Michigan; grandchildren, Taylor Devenney, Hunter Devenney-Shultz and Baylee Smith; various other relatives also survive.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. June 12, 2014 in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. June 11.
