John Lawrence Botkins III, 30, of Dawsonville, died May 28, 2012.

John lived in the Dawsonville area for the past 20 years, where he loved to play golf, fish and express his artistic desires.

He also loved to spend quality time with his daughters and his dogs.

His grandparents, Herbert "Jiggs" and Mary Gasser Foster; grandfathers, John L. Botkins Sr. and John L. Carter, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his parents, John L. Botkins Jr. of Lexington, Ky., Terry and Bert Lawson of Dawsonville; daughters, Alexia Grace and Kaylee Elizabeth Botkins of Sugar Hill; sisters, Kimberly and John Maloney of Dawsonville, Carrie Lawson of Jersey City, N.J.; grandmother, Margie Carter of Lexington, Ky.; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. June 1 at the First Redeemer Church in Cumming.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made for his daughters to the John Botkins "Memorial Project" at Helping Hands Ministries, www.hhmin.org or by calling (706) 754-6884.

McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
