John Bev "J.B." Anderson, 89, of Dawsonville, died Jan. 8, 2011.
Born June 21, 1921 to the late Bev and Ethel Anderson, he was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. Mr. Anderson retired from Lockheed and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the European Theater.
He was the oldest deacon of New Bethel Baptist Church.
His wife of 62 years, Marjorie Anderson; sister, Olive Stegall; and brother, Ivan Anderson, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his children, Curtis and Carolyn Anderson of Gainesville, Karen and Harold McCord of Dawsonville; sister, Rose Goswick of Buford; grandchildren, Brooke and Carrie Anderson, Whitney Anderson, Nathan and Jessica McCord; great-grandchildren, Grace and Samuel Anderson; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 16 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Leonard W. Ridings, Johnny Eubanks, Bobby Whitmire and Harold McCord officiating. Interment followed in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
