Joe M. Walker, 66, of Dawsonville, died Monday, May 4, 2009.

  

Born in Chattanooga, Tenn., he had lived in Dawson County over 23 years, having moved from Lawrenceville.

  

Mr. Walker was employed in corporate management for Kentucky Fried Chicken for 23 years, after which he worked as the seafood manager for Publix in Forsyth County until his retirement.

  

He was of the Baptist faith and for several years conducted the ministry at Phillips State Prison in Buford, Ga.

  

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Walker of Dawsonville; stepson, Charles McClure of Young Harris; grandchildren, Regan McClure, Marshall McClure, Sawyer Abercrombie, Kris Holsenbeck; various other relatives also survive.

  

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 6 at the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Brody A. Hughes and Terry Marchman officiating.

  

Interment services will be held at 3:30 p.m. at Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery in Hayesville, N.C.

  

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
