Joann Porter, 74, of Dawsonville, died April 22, 2011.

Born Nov. 15, 1937 in Buford to the late Milford and Lilly Thompson, she had lived in Dawson County for the past 15 years.

A homemaker at her death, she was formerly employed by BellSouth.

Her son, William “Billy” Porter, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, William A. Porter Sr. of Dawsonville; daughter, Ruth Porter of Dawsonville; sisters, Sue, Lillian and Sheila; various other relatives also survive.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. April 23 at Murrayville Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Allison officiating.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
