Joan Colette Makosky, 80, of Dawsonville died Feb. 25, 2018.
Born April 12, 1937 in Morristown, N.J. to the late Andrew and Kathryn Tirpak, she lived in Alpharetta over 30 years before moving to the Oaks at Hampton in 2017.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, John A. Makosky; children, Sharon and Terry Martin of Dawsonville, John D. Makosky of Sandy Springs, Diane and Dan Rennell of Rogers, Ariz.; grandchildren, Laura and Joe Grossman, Kevin Martin, Justin Rennell, Courtney Rennell, Evan Rennell, Hannah Rennell; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Makosky of Montville, N.J.; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services were held Feb. 26 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Feb. 26 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donation in memory of Joan may be made to the LMK Foundation at Lmkfoundation.org. Laona M. Kitchens Foundation works to assist families who are caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
