J.L. Chapman, 74, of Dawsonville, died May 9, 2014.

Born March 18, 1940, in Dawson County, to the late John Henry and Dessie Zona Chapman, he lived his entire life in the Dawson, Hall, Forsyth and Lumpkin County area.

Mr. Chapmen was formerly employed by the Gainesville City School System and the Forsyth County Senior Center.

His sister, Jessie Beck; and brothers, Eugene Chapman, Eston Chapman, Grady Chapman and R.H. Chapman, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his brother, Roger Chapman of Dahlonega; various other relatives also survive.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. May 14 at the Word of Life Pentecostal Deliverance Center, Souls Chapel, Cemetery with the Rev. James Wilbanks officiating.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville is in charge of the arrangements.
