Jethel W. Chumbley, 91, of Dawsonville, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2009.

  

Born April 27, 1918 in Pickens County to the late Robert E. Lee Walker and Elizabeth Walker, she moved to South Georgia as a teenager and then to Dawson County, where she lived over 70 years. Mrs. Chumbley was a homemaker and a member of Juno Baptist Church.

  

Her husband, Odum Chumbley; son, Duren Chumbley; eight brothers; and, four sisters, preceded her in death.

  

Survivors include her children, Clinton and Sarah Chumbley, Janice Canup, all of Dawsonville, Judy and Bill Abercrombie of Gainesville; daughter-in-law, Eunice Chumbley of Dawsonville; sister, Pat Cox of McRae; grandchildren, Trina and Steven Brown, Tony Canup, Ted Canup, Andy and Sarah Kate Abercrombie, Eric and Brandi Abercrombie; great-grandchildren, Dennis Brown, Tina Brown, Michael Brown, C.J. Brown and Ansleigh Abercrombie; various other relatives also survive.

  

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13 at Juno Baptist Church with the Revs. Dennis Bottoms and Tim Biddy officiating.

  

Interment followed in the church cemetery.

  

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to the Juno Baptist Church Building Fund, 3185 Elliott Family Parkway, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

  

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
