Jerel M. Taffar, 68, of Dawsonville, died Nov. 1, 2014.

Born Nov. 4, 1945 to the late G. William and Aline Taffar, he was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.

Jerel was a retired independent insurance agent with more than 30 years of service. He enjoyed cooking, gardening and was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam.

His brother, Roger Taffar, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Claudia Taffar; children, Stacie Taffar, Matthew Taffar and Kin Sheffield, Ethan Taffar and Kira Holbrooks, all of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Alexis Matheson and Bentley Taffar, both of Dawsonville; brothers and sister-in-law, Billy Taffar of Morrow, Jimmy Taffar of Winder, Larry and Louise Taffar of Dawsonville; sister-in-law, Ondrea Taffar of Gainesville; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Nov. 4 at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Dr. Orin Sampson and the Rev. Eddie Herring officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
