Authorities say that an inmate in custody at the Dawson County Detention Center has died and state officials have been called in to investigate the death.

Janel Mary Temple, 84, of Cumming, died April 8, 2016.

She was a member of Silver Shoals Baptist Church.

Janell was preceded in death by her parents, Egbert and Lucille Martin; sister, Inell Martin; brother, Billy Martin, various other relatives also survive.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, the Rev. J. L. Temple of Cumming; brothers and sisters-in-law, John L. Martin, the Rev. Hugh and Jane Martin, the Rev. Ruel and Toni Martin, the Rev. Truel and June Martin, all of Cumming, Hyward and Lunell Martin of Gainesville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth and Jerry Bagwell, Mary and Larry Burruss, all of Cumming, Phyllis and Frank Free of Flowery Branch; nieces, Shirley Rampley of Canton, Shelby Hermanson of Jasper; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. April 11 in the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Eric Watson, Jimmy Martin Jr. and Greg Rawlins officiating. Interment followed in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
