James Robert “Bob” Nicely

James Robert “Bob” Nicely, 80, of Dahlonega, died Dec. 25, 2017.

Born March 6, 1937 to the late James and Louise Nicely, Bob had been a resident of Dahlonega for over 30 years.  A U.S. Navy veteran, he served from 1955-1959 on the CV61 USS Ranger.  For many years he worked in the cattle industry which moved him all over the country.  Bob worked for Tatum Farms after moving to Georgia until starting Nicely Construction Company in 1982.  He built many homes in the North Georgia area until his retirement in the early 2000s.

Two sons, James Alan Nicely, Daniel Lee Nicely; and brother, Leonard Nicely, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Brent and Mary Ann Nicely of Dawsonville, Chris Nicely and Carol Anne Bailey of South Carolina; daughter, Debbie Sorensen of Buford; grandchildren, Brittany Diane Ledford, Rylee Kate Nicely, Jessica Leigh Long, Clayton Cody Long; various other relatives also survive.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Dec. 29, 2017 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Hamby officiating.

The family received friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour Dec.29 at the funeral home.
