James R. "J.R." Wright, 84, of Dawsonville, died Feb. 20, 2014.

Born July 3, 1929 in Atlanta, to the late William E. and Ruby Wright, he had lived in Dawsonville since 2004, having moved from Lithia Springs.

Mr. Wright was formerly employed by the Douglas County School System, after which he retired as an electrician with Williamson Electric after 15 years of service.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville, was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Douglasville Lodge No. 289 F&AM.

His wife of 59 years, Betty C. Wright; and a sister, Dorothy Black; also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Glen Miller of Cumming; sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Renee Wright of Dawsonville, David and Ann Wright of Florida; grandchildren, Teresa and John Tinsley, Jessica Patterson, Joshua Wright, Glen Miller Jr., Ed and Melissa Miller; great-grandchildren, Devin Herron, Sunshine Patterson, Bryce Miller; sisters and brother-in-law, Charlene and Doyle Pruitt, Barbara Spain, all of Dahlonega; various other relatives also survive.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Feb. 25 at Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens in Mableton with the Dr. Jim Gaines officiating.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
