Hoyt Clay Smith, 91, died May 4, 2017.

Hoyts was a member of Ophir Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, choir director and song leader.

He was also a veteran of World War II, a member of Redwine Lodge and a lifelong Atlanta Braves fan.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Janell Nix Smith; two children, Tony A. Smith and his wife, Laura, of Cumming, Barbara S. Roper and her husband, Randy, of Dawsonville; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 6 in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with the Revs. Jerry Frazier, Clyde Boling, Troy Milford and Gary Keown. Interment followed at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
