Homer L. Mooney, 81, of Dahlonega, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009.

  

Born Dec. 2, 1927 in Lumpkin County to the late Luther and Sallie Mooney, Mr. Mooney was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County.

  

He retired from Pine Tree after 37 years of service and was of the Baptist faith.

 

He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Monnie Tanner, Grace Harkins, Blanche Mooney; and brother, Hoyt. C. Mooney.

  

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Elvie Mooney of Dahlonega; children, Bradley and Phyllis Mooney of Dawsonville, Lyndon and Marion Mooney of Gainesville, Wayne and Becky Mooney of Dahlonega; brother and sister-in-law, Hershel and Betty Jo Mooney of Dahlonega; grandchildren, Brandon and Sharon Mooney, Nathan Mooney, Jennifer and Josh Larson, Kelly Mooney; great-grandchildren, Dylan Mooney, Briana Mooney, Taylor Williams; various other relatives also survive.

  

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rodney Pilcher officiating.

  

Interment followed in the Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery

  

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
