Hilliard A. "Deacon" Jones, 87, of Dawsonville, died Oct. 16, 2011.

Born July 23, 1924 in Decatur to the late Fred and Mary Webb, he had been a resident of Dawsonville for the past 20 years.

Mr. Jones was a proud veteran of both the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. He retired from Kraft Foods where he worked many years as a machinist and was an avid gardener.

His two sisters and nine brothers preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughters, Janice Kohler of Dawsonville, Joyce Brown of Cumming; grandchildren, Jason Lunsford, Christina Dugger, Dale Kohler; brother and sister-in-law, Ned and Geraldine Jones of Conyers; six great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until noon at the funeral home.
