Herbert John Vincent, 79, of Milton and Dahlonega, died Nov. 3, 2011.
Mr. Vincent was born Nov. 28, 1931, in Buffalo, N.Y., the son of the late Herbert E. and Lucille M. Vincent.
Herb proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Upon completion of his service, he began a long and distinguished career with IBM.
His career moved his family frequently, living in Tokyo, Japan twice.
He was a worldwide travel enthusiast and an avid golfer.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Wade Vincent; children, Matthew W. Vincent, Christopher J. (Gina) Vincent, Meg V. Jones and Andrea V. (Matt) Lydic; eight grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.
Mass was held at 5 p.m. Nov. 12 at St. Brendan's Catholic Church in Cumming. A "Celebration of Life" gathering was held at the family home following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org, benefitting wounded U.S. service members.
McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
