Harold B. Gazaway

Harold B. Gazaway, 78, of Gainesville, died Oct. 13, 2013.

Born June 6, 1935 in Forsyth County to the late George and Violet Gazaway, he lived his life in Dawson and Forsyth counties.

Mr. Gazaway was a retired poultry farmer and was formerly employed by Wachovia Bank.

A licensed Baptist minister, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Chestatee Lodge No. 102 F&AM and The Gideons.

In addition to his parents, his grandsons, Sean Dover, Taylor Gazaway; sister, Floy Nahlik; and brothers, Tunny Gazaway and Major Gazaway, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ruth Hammond Gazaway of Gainesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Russell "Rusty" and Glenda Gazaway of Gainesville, Keith and Jennifer Gazaway of Gray Court, S.C.; brother, George Gazaway Jr. of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Amanda Gazaway, Grace Gazaway, Tori Garrett; sisters-in-law, Mildred Bailey, Shirley Gazaway Robinson; brother-in-law, Clyde Hammond Jr.; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Oct. 16 at Liberty Baptist Church with the Revs. Dennis Bottoms, Ruel Martin, Cloyse Stanford and Robert Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mr. Gazaway to The Gideons at P.O. Box 174, Dawsonville, GA 30534.
