Gloria Chester, 77, of Dawsonville, died April 29, 2017.

Born Nov. 23, 1939 in Gilmer County to the late Curtin and Helen Quarles, she lived in Dawson County for 57 years.

A homemaker at her death, she was formerly employed at the Amicalola Falls State Park Lodge and Gold Creek Golf Resort.

Gloria enjoyed doing arts and crafts and was especially fond of her cats.

A member of New Hope Baptist Church, her husband, Earl Chester; stepson, Wayne Chester; and a brother, James Quarles also preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Anne Martin, Norman Chester, Connie and Ronnie Sosebee, Benny Chester, David Chester, Marty Chester, all of Dawsonville, Melba and Jerrell Fricks of Dahlonega; stepchildren, James and Jimmie Ann Chester, Helen Anderson, Teresa and Tim Parton, all of Dawsonville, Shirley and Gary Bruce of Hoschton; brothers and sister-in-law, Forrest Quarles, Joe Quarles, W.C. and Vickie Quarles, all of Dawsonville; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. May 1 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Bobby Whitmire and Bill Jones officiating. Interment followed in the Tails Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Ellijay.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
