Gerard A. “Jed” Lacey, 58, of Dawsonville, died Aug. 12, 2017.


Better known as Coach Lacey, Jed followed his passion to coach and motivate the youth of Dawson County.


He dedicated his life in mentoring youth to reach their full potential as a person, as a student, a team member and improving the community around them.


Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Charlotte Lacey; his daughter, Fallan Lacey; in addition to immediate family his survivors include the numerous students he coached and mentored throughout his career, fellow coaching staff and faculty Jed considered members of his extended family.


A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 19 in the Dawson County Performing Arts Center with the Revs. Brody Hughes and Chad Rogers officiating.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the GoFundMe account set up in his memory.


Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville is in charge of the arrangements.
