Georgeann Vick Schanke, 68, of Dawsonville, died March 6, 2018. Born July 11, 1949 to Dr. George Henry Vick and Sarah Ann Fischer Vick, and raised in Charleston, W.Va. and Atlanta, she was a graduate of Georgia Southern University, and later lived on St. Simon’s Island. Georgeann’s love was teaching children. She taught kindergarten through third grade for many years, was an Instructional Lead Teacher, and was named Teacher of the Year at Gwin Oaks Elementary School in Lawrenceville. The youngest of three children, Georgeann was known as the adorable little red-head. She had a spunky personality and sought out fun and laughter in all she did. She loved her friends and family deeply, with an endearing passion and genuine caring for each individual, always selflessly prioritizing others.
