George Truman Benson

George Truman Benson, 88, of Cumming, died Nov. 1, 2010.

 

He was a member of Cumming Baptist Church.

 

George was in the Navy and served in the 112th Navy Construction Battalion (Seabees).

 

He was also a lifetime member of the Lions Club International.

 

His son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Vicki Benson, preceded him in death.

 

Survivors include his loving wife, Betty Benson of Cumming; children, Steven and Patsy Benson, Ben and Ronda Benson, Gayle and George Funes, all of Cumming; sister, Virginia Davies of Griffin; grandchildren, Stefanie and Bruce Corey, Kyle and Laurie Benson, Kerry and Tracy Benson, Heather Smith, Hillarie Smith, Beth Benson, Bud, Cass and Will Benson; six great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Nov. 4 at Cumming Baptist Church with Dr. Barry Crocker and the Rev. Roger Williams officiating. Interment followed at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to the Cumming Baptist Church Building Fund, 115 Church Street, Cumming, GA 30040 or Embracing Hospice, 8013 Majors Road, Cumming, GA 30041.

 

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
