George H. Wilson, 72, of Gainesville, died Nov. 3, 2016.

Mr. Wilson was born Oct. 3, 1944, in Georgia to the late Rufus and Elda Gurney Wilson. He was one of 10 children and grew up in Dawson County.

He started his building career as a subcontractor for Holiday Homes in the early 1970s. In 1983 he started his own business, Wilson Construction, d.b.a. North Ga. Homes.

In addition to his parents, his brothers and sisters, Kenneth, Bobby, Junior, Homer, Stanley, Lavera Chapman, Geraldine Burt and Broncile Warren, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Robbie Shope Wilson; son and daughter-in-law, Jason Wilson and Teresa Wilson; daughter and son-in-law, Chante Wilson McNeal and Shane McNeal; son and daughter-in-law, Brandon Wilson and Hope Rector Wilson; daughter-in-law, Karin Wilson Taylor; sister, Betty Wilson Abbott; grandchildren, Kelsey Wilson Woodard and Zach Woodard, Ashley Coley, Cameron Wilson, Matthew McNeal, Morgan McNeal, Cade Wilson, McKenzie Jernigan and Cason Wilson; various other relatives also survive.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested that a donation be made to either the American Cancer Society or to Saddle Buddies Therapy, c/o Walker Therapy, 7985 Knight Rd., Gainesville, GA 30506, for special needs children.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Nov. 7 in the Little Davenport Chapel with the Rev. Tony Holtzclaw officiating.

Little Davenport Funeral Home and Crematory of Gainesville was in charge of the arrangements.
