Garvin Duane Elkhill, 48, of Cumming, died Sept. 25, 2016.

Duane was born on Aug. 23, 1968, to Garvin and Gwen Elkhill.

He was one of the cofounders of the Georgia Octane Baseball Organization and the Team Elkhill Foundation.

He was a member of Browns Bridge Community Church in Cumming, and active in the Atlanta Men's Adult Baseball League.

Duane worked at Publix Supermarkets for 32 years, where he touched many people's lives.

He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend and he will be missed dearly.

Survivors include his loving wife, Dawn Elkhill of Cumming; children, Andrew, Victoria and Olivia Elkhill, all of Cumming; stepchildren, Sara and Garrett Boyd, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; parents, Garvin Elkhill of Frostproof, Fla., Gwen and John Richmond of Lakeland, Fla.; sisters, Stephanie Elkhill of Avon Park, Fla., Ashley Elkhill of Tulsa, Okla.; grandmother, Marie Moreland of Frostproof, Fla.; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sept. 29 at Browns Bridge Community Church with the Rev. Brad Smith officiating. Interment followed at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made to the Team Elkhill Foundation.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
