Frances Louise Millsap Cowart, 88, of Dawsonville, died Jan. 13, 2016.
She was born in Fulton County, one of four children of Vincent and Clessie Millsap.
Frances grew up in Fulton County, where she graduated as valedictorian from South Fulton High School in 1945.
She went on to secretarial school to prepare for a career that spanned 35 years as an executive secretary at PPG Industries.
She retired to spend time with her husband, John Arvil Cowart Sr., her children and grandchildren.
Frances and Arvil tried to never miss a soccer game, baseball game, basketball game, swim meet or ballet recital of their five grandchildren.
Her beloved son, Ronald Wayne Cowart; as well as two sisters, Mary Millsap Dewberry and Ruby Millsap Lee, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, John Arvil Cowart Sr.; son, John Arvil Jr. and Marie Cowart; daughter-in-law, Susan Bell Cowart; grandchildren, Nathan and Jenifer Cowart, Drew Cowart, Adam Cowart, Natalie Cowart, Blake Cowart; great-grandchildren, Connor, Riley, Dylan Grace and Maddox; brother, Roy and Sarah Millsap; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 21 at McDonald and Son Funeral Home. Interment followed at Georgia National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until service time and at a reception following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (www.jdrf.org).
McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming is in charge of the arrangements.
