Floyd E. Mayo, 83, of Gainesville, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009.

  

He was a retired schoolteacher and Army Veteran.

  

His parents, Edgar and Blanche Mayo; brothers, J.W. Mayo, James Mayo, Brice Mayo and Loyd Mayo (twin); sisters, Ruby Horton, Meredith Plummer and Virginia Power, preceded him in death.

  

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Geneva Mayo of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Danny Clinton of Cumming, Charlotte and Phil Pruitt of Gainesville; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Robin Mayo of Alpharetta, Morris and Suzy Mayo of Dawsonville, Loy and Beth Mayo of Gainesville; sister and brother-in-law, Hilda and George Crenshaw of Pitts; sisters-in-law, Voncile Mayo of Pitts, Myrtle Mayo of Columbus, Mildred Evans of Murrayville; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

  

Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29 at New Hope United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Patton officiating.

  

Interment followed in the church cemetery.

  

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the New Hope United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4815 Dawsonville Hwy., Gainesville, GA 30506.

  

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
